On the Grand Canyon in Focus trip last week, youth met with the current Grand Canyon Artist-in-Residence, Iris. The kids wrote their own song about their experiences in the park with her fabulous help! Check out the song performed by the kids on the balcony of Verkamp’s Visitors Center.
“At the Grand Canyon We Did See”
As I was walking
I saw the River
It was so shocking
I began to quiver
I snapped a picture
Of a brown otter
At the Grand Canyon we did see
As we were walking
Down the dusty trail
We saw a lady
She was kinda pale
We gave her water
And her thirsty daughter
At the Grand Canyon we did see
A falling sandstone
Into the water
Smashing a cell phone
And broke my backbone
The doctor saved me
I was so happy
At the Grand Canyon and we did see
There is a squirrel.
And it was alert
There was a girl
There in the desert
She found a pearl
There in the dirt
At the Grand Canyon we did see
A running gray fox
Chasing a bunny
Leaping on red rocks
It looked so funny
Chewing on red socks
Then it got sunny
At the Grand Canyon we did see
Where there are flowers
There in the desert
Rain is their showers
Their power hour
Here there are pine trees
Where it will free me
At the Grand Canyon we did see
