Get Ready, Get Set–Go Yosemite!

A trip to Yosemite National Park – what a way to start the week!

Twelve preteens from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, three BGCP staff members, and four Udall leaders officially kick-off Parks in Focus: California today! We had a great pre-trip activity last Thursday: after learning about the cameras and taking some test shots, the kids identified five things—distance, subject, lighting, angle, and focus—they are going to focus on this week to make great photographs!

Leslie practices different ways of framing in preparation for the Yosemite trip.

On the schedule for day one:

  • First views of the park!  Camera review, journal decoration, lots of group bonding
  • An NPS education staff guided tour of a giant Sequoia grove
  • Camp set-up 101, bear safety lesson, first community circle, and first night sleeping in tents for many participants
Stay tuned for photos from the trip starting on July 14th!
