Yogi-free in Yosemite!

The Parks in Focus Yosemite trip wrapped up this afternoon, with the kids getting sworn in as Junior Rangers by the awesome NPS education staff who helped us out during the week.  We had a memorable visit to and through the park, complete with waterfalls, mosquitos, and wildflowers—though the participants were disappointed they didn’t get to see a bear.  The staff, on the other hand, were just fine with no midnight visitors to the campsite!

Stay tuned for more featured photos from the trip and highlight slideshows starting early next week!

  1. An excellent project with multidimensional benefits! Through similar arts-related programs, great artists (e.g.,Tracy Chapman) received their first opportunities to use other peoples’ instruments, and ultimately to own their own. Even if the student’s experiences don’t lead to photography careers, they can be transformational, healing and enlightening.

    1. Thanks so much Wendy! We feel the same way. It’s great to visit Yosemite, because there’s such a history there of great photographers who started as teenagers (e.g. Ansel Adams). Hopefully it was inspirational for the kids and staff alike!
