Parks in Focus® has kicked off its 17th summer season of connecting youth to nature through photography! Throughout the summer we’ll provide weekly updates on our programs in Arizona, California, Michigan, Montana and Oklahoma. Here is what’s happening around the country this week:
Today launches the first of two camping trips to northern Arizona with middle school youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson. The participants selected for these two trips were some of the most active and engaged participants during our winter and spring programs in Tucson.
Participants will spend five days camping and exploring a number of parks and public lands in and around Sedona and Flagstaff, including Sunset Crater Volcano, Wupatki and Walnut Canyon National Monuments, and Red Rock and Slide Rock State Parks. They will meet with rangers at many of the sites we visit, learn about the night sky at the Lowell Observatory, and explore new photography tips and techniques with Adam Schallau Photography.
These trips are made possible by generous support from the Western National Parks Association.
Stay tuned for more photos, media releases and other updates from all of our summer 2015 programs.
