06/08/2015: What’s Happening This Week

Participants from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson pose for a quick shot at Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument during last week’s Parks in Focus® trip to northern Arizona.

Here is what Parks in Focus® is up to this week:

Today launches the second of two camping trips to northern Arizona with middle school youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson. The youth selected for these two trips were some of the most active and engaged participants during our winter and spring programs in Tucson.

The group will spend five days visiting and exploring several parks and public lands in and around Sedona and Flagstaff, including Sunset Crater VolcanoWupatki and Walnut Canyon National Monuments, and Red Rock and Slide Rock State Parks. They will meet with rangers at many of the sites we visit, learn about the night sky at the Lowell Observatory, and explore new photography tips and techniques with Adam Schallau Photography.

This trip is made possible, in part, by generous support from the Western National Parks Association.

Stay tuned for more photos, media releases and other updates from all of our summer 2015 programs.
