Back Down from the U.P.!

The last Parks in Focus trip of the summer returned from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on Monday. We had a great time exploring the shores of Lake Superior, from cliffs to waterfalls, shipwrecks to lighthouses! The kids got to see lots of wildlife—the short list includes trumpeter swans, pumpkinseed fish, bald eagles, and river otters!  And luckily, though we had a couple days of rain, the sun was out and shining for both our sunset cruise of Pictured Rocks and our canoe trip down the Au Train River.

The Parks in Focus: Michigan trip also had two Returning Leaders, alumni from the 2009 trip, join us to help out the participants and learn a bit about outdoor leadership.  Stay tuned over the next few weeks not only for photos and updates from our fabulous Pictured Rocks trip, but also some special “news reports” from the Upper Peninsula by our Returning Leaders!
